Yu Nong + Alex

Alex and Yu Nong made a trip around the world to get married at the beautiful Starling Lane Vineyard on Vancouver Island. The couple lives in Singapore but have close ties to the Pacific Northwest and loved the charm and scenery of the area. Their wedding day started with a traditional tea ceremony followed by their vow exchange in the middle of the rose garden.

Thanks to the full team of vendors for making this such a beautiful day and congratulations to Alex and Yu Nong!

Cara + Patrick

Cara and Patrick's beautiful Okanagan wedding was a pure delight to photograph. With their friends and closest families by their side, the two married by the beach. She was barefoot and he was rocking floral pants (amazing) and they celebrated the entire weekend. I loved the causal feel to their wedding, it allowed them and the guests to really focus on what was important.

I met Cara during a shoot I did earlier in the summer where she was the model. A true fashion lover, one would have thought that Cara would have been decked out in lots of jewelry, heels, the whole nine yards. But she was perfectly simplistic in a silk slip dress and a floral crown as her only accessory. I loved it. Her true beauty shined through. She was natural, she was herself, she was beautiful. And Patricks pants! I still can't get over how amazing they were.

All the best to these two love birds, thanks for having me capture your special day!

Dining for One

There is often a negative connotation to the act of eating alone. As if being alone, makes one lonely. But, to eat with oneself can be a rich, sensory experience when you slow down and create a space that is nourishing to your body, mind and soul.

To compensate for the lack of verbal dialogue, create a table setting that engages your senses. To begin, go outside and forage a bouquet of something unexpected. Not only does this provide an opportunity to spend time outdoors, but allows you to bring a bit of the outdoors back into your home.

Break routine and pick a place in your home that you don't normally eat at, preferably one with a great view. Add a pillow or blanket to your chair to invite the feeling of relaxation. Next, get out your best napkins, the ones you never bring out for fear of a red wine demise. Layer different patterns and textures to create something both visually and tangibly intriguing.

When the table is set with intention, you create a heightened awareness that adds to the meal. Without any other distractions, you can let your guard down and let the experience take over. Don't be afraid to try something different, use fancy cutlery, chopsticks, make something messy, clean, simple. Don't be afraid to eat alone. Embrace it.

As seen on tete-a-tete

Clover + Chris

Clover + Chris's beautiful coastal bohemian wedding was definitely a highlight of my summer. The wedding took place on the Sunshine Coast, a remote place that is accessed only by boat. The coast line there is breathtaking and I had the pleasure of spending a couple days there exploring, photographing and swimming (with phosphorescence, magical!)

This wedding was also really special to me because Chris and so many of the guests came from Scotland, a place very dear to me. I spent an entire summer studying abroad there and fell completely in love with the landscape, culture and people. Being at this wedding took me right back to my travels.

Thanks to Spread Love Events for all the beautiful styling, florals and planning and the Rock Water Secret Cove Resort, an amazing venue! Congrats Chris + Clover, xo!
