A + J

Amanda and Jed came all the way from Edmonton for their engagement session so I really wanted them to experience the magical landscape that we are so luck to call home on Vancouver Island. We explored Mount Doug Park, walking the trails through the woods and climbing to the very top just in time for the dreamiest sunset. These two were so happy in love, laughing and just enjoying each other as they explored. Thanks you two for having me along, it never really feels like work when you get to make new friends while watching the sunset.

Eat Together

A couple weeks back the lovely ladies of Moonrise Creative asked me to photograph their first (of hopefully many) pop up suppers.  We dined al fresco in an open meadow with amazing food prepared by Chef Castro. The menu included Vancouver Island specialties such as sea asparagus, wild morels and salmon. A wildcrafted herbal vermouth was prepared by the ladies of Gather, who forage and create recipes with wild foods. These inspiring (and hilarious) ladies are doing such great work, I encourage you to check them out!

Martin of Green Island Builders created a beautiful tiny home that housed the Gather ladies during the cocktail hour. I love the idea of having a structure that can easily be moved from one event to the next. It added such a cozy feel to an outdoor space.

Local wines from the island were served by Storied Wines, a company who represents sustainable, family owned wineries. What I loved so much about this dinner was the emphasis on supporting local foods and companies who are devoted to sustainable practices. As the sun set and the night sky shown, guest continued to enjoy not just the food, but the great company that can always be found when you eat together.
